| Purpose |
|
The organized unit of UNITED METHODIST WOMEN shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

| JUMC Church Circles |
|
Our circle meetings routinely include devotion; variety of programs including education and planning for mission support and activities; prayer; and refreshments.
- Willard Circle meets on the 4th Monday of most months, from 7 - 9 pm. The circle supports local, state and international missions through prayer, bake sales, church dinners, and donations. The circle also keeps in touch with church member shut-ins and college students. There is an annual outing in late summer, usually a picnic and games. Willard does not meet in December.
- Wesleyan Circle meets the 1st Tuesday of every month, at the church, at 10:00 am. The circle sends cards to shut ins, and has a picnic in the summer (spouses invited). They also have a Christmas dinner and exchange gifts with their prayer partners. The Wesleyan Circle also supports Portland Promise Center, Lighthouse and Wesley House. Wesleyan does not meet in January.

Bicentennial cookbooks are available either through a Willard Circle member or in the church office during weekday hours. The cost is $12 and checks are payable to Willard Circle.

Saturday | September 24 | Picnic
There will be a Willard Circle picnic at Veteran’s Park, at 4 pm, for members and families. Circle provides the chicken and members bring a dish to share. Hope to see you there.
Monday | August 29 | Chalk Artist
We have a chalk artist coming for a social event. TIME: 6:30 pm, at church, plus refreshments. More details will be posted as they become available.
Wednesday | July 13 | Lighthouse Ministries Project
Join the JUMC Women’s Circles on Wednesday evening, July 13, in a service project for children in the Lighthouse Ministries summer program. Members from the unit will be meeting at the church around 6 pm and will pack lunches in paper sacks for about 80 children. We are preparing sandwiches and lunches will also include fresh fruit, and a variety of things from cookies, pretzels, snack bars and more, including water.
Sunday | May 8 | Layette Kit Donation Deadline
PLEASE NOTE: All items must be new and as described below. Do not wash any of the items as they will be considered used.
Please donate by May 8, Mother’s Day. Make checks payable to Willard Circle, for “Layette.” Leave any of below items in the church office. If you’d like to help assemble kits, join us at our next meeting on May 23, 7pm, at church. Call the church office with questions – 267-1437. All kits will go to United Methodist Committee on Relief.
THANKS TO ALL who contributed towards the Layette Kits. Willard Circle put together eight kits and shipped them to UMCOR for distribution to mom’s in need.

There are many women around the world in need of some basic baby items. Global Ministries of the UMC provides the below list, which makes up one Layette Kit. With your help, Willard Circle wants to put some kits together. We welcome any contributions of money or any of the items below.

2011 UMW Membership Directories
The new UMW directories for the local unit are now available. They are in the UMW cubby hole to the right of the ladies restroom off the gathering area. Be sure to pick yours up. If there are any additions or corrections please advise Nancy Brumback.
